About Rich:
I was born when I was really young - so young, in fact, that I don't even remember the day that it happened. When I was nearly five years old, my parents bought a piano. I learned to play some simple songs on it using a shape notes book. I also discovered that I could play songs by ear. I started piano lessons soon after that and have never looked back. My piano training helped me to pick up the guitar, bass, drums, accordion and banjo. (See, sticking with piano lessons CAN be cool!)
At the age of twelve, I began to think about my life and what would happen when I died. I knew that I wanted to live in Heaven with God when my life here was over. I knew I needed a relationship with God for this to happen. God is perfect and has never done anything wrong. The wrong things that I had done in my life meant I could not have a relationship with God on my own. And the penalty for those wrong things needed to be paid for in order for them to be forgiven. Then I learned that God made a way for that payment to be made so I could be forgiven for the wrong things I had done. God did this by sending His Son, Jesus, to the world. Jesus was born and lived a perfect life – He never did anything wrong! Even though He never did anything wrong and didn’t have a penalty to pay, He chose to die in my place to pay the price for the wrongs that I had done.
